plum cake

Ingredients:
- 1 cup (225g) all-purpose flour
- 1 tsp baking powder
- 1/2 tsp baking soda
- 1/2 tsp salt
- 1/2 tsp ground cinnamon
- 1/4 tsp ground nutmeg
- 1/2 cup (115g) unsalted butter, room temperature
- 3/4 cup (165g) granulated sugar
- 2 large eggs, room temperature
- 1 tsp vanilla extract
- 1/2 cup (120mL) buttermilk, room temperature
- 2 cups (340g) fresh plums, pitted and chopped

Instructions:
1. Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease and flour a 9-inch (23cm) cake pan.
2. In a medium bowl, whisk together the flour, baking powder, baking soda, salt, cinnamon, and nutmeg. Set aside.
3. In a large bowl, cream the butter and sugar together until light and fluffy.
4. Beat in the eggs, one at a time, then stir in the vanilla extract.
5. Gradually add the dry ingredients to the wet mixture, alternating with the buttermilk, until just combined.
6. Fold the chopped plums into the batter.
7. Pour the batter into the prepared cake pan and smooth the top.
8. Bake for 40-45 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted into the center of the cake comes out clean.
9. Remove the cake from the oven and let it cool in the pan for 10 minutes before removing it from the pan and transferring it to a wire rack to cool completely.
10. Serve slices of the plum cake and enjoy!
